Health and Safety Policy — Pressure Washing Hornsey Operations
Purpose: This policy sets out the approach of our pressure washing and waste handling operations to protect staff, contractors, members of the public and property while delivering
pressure washing Hornsey and related services. It applies to all activities including high-pressure cleaning, surface preparation, and the controlled handling of rinse water and debris that may arise during cleaning and rubbish clearance assignments in our service area.
Scope and commitment
We are committed to maintaining a safe working environment that minimises risk from slip, trip, fall, mechanical injury and environmental contamination.
Hornsey pressure washing services and any rubbish company service area activities will be planned and executed so that risks are assessed, mitigated and monitored. All team members must follow safe systems of work, use required personal protective equipment, and report hazards promptly.

Key principles
- Risk assessment: Carry out and document risk assessments for each job, including high-pressure water hazards, chemical use and waste management.
- Training: Ensure operatives are competent in power washing Hornsey techniques and rubbish handling procedures.
- Controls: Apply engineering, administrative and personal protective controls to reduce exposure to hazards.
Responsibilities
Management:
must ensure resources, supervision and documented procedures are in place. Operatives:
must follow instructions, use PPE and stop work if unsafe. Supervisors will conduct pre-start checks and ensure safety compliance during
pressure cleaning Hornsey operations.

Equipment, maintenance and selection
Only suitable high-pressure washers, pumps, hoses and attachments designed for the task will be used. Equipment will be inspected before use and subject to regular maintenance schedules. Faulty equipment must be removed from service and tagged out until repaired. Where chemicals are used, only approved cleaning agents will be stored and handled in accordance with supplier guidance and labelled containers.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Operatives will be provided with and wear appropriate PPE including eye protection, boots with slip-resistant soles, waterproof overalls, gloves suitable for pressure washing and chemical handling, and hearing protection when required. PPE is a last line of defence and must be used in conjunction with engineering and administrative controls.
Environmental controls and rubbish handling
We recognise the importance of containing rinse water and residues. Measures include using containment mats, bunding, sediment traps and licensed disposal methods to prevent pollution. When undertaking rubbish removal adjacent to cleaning operations, team members will segregate waste streams, avoid contamination of recyclable materials and ensure any hazardous debris is handled according to safe practice.

Incident management and emergency procedures
In the event of an incident — injury, significant spill or property damage — work will stop and emergency procedures implemented. First aid will be administered by trained personnel, and incidents recorded and investigated. Lessons learned will feed back into risk assessments and training to prevent recurrence. This includes near-miss reporting and corrective action tracking.

Training, supervision and competence
All staff engaged in power washing Hornsey and rubbish clearance tasks will receive induction training, refresher training and task-specific instruction. Supervision levels will be proportionate to risk and personnel competence.
Regular toolbox talks and documented competence checks form part of our ongoing assurance process.
Monitoring, review and continuous improvement
We will carry out routine site inspections, audits and performance reviews to ensure compliance with this policy. Findings will be used to update procedures, training and risk assessments.
Pressure washing Hornsey standards will be kept under review and updated when there are changes to equipment, legislation, or operational practice.
Legal compliance and standards
Our operations will comply with applicable health, safety and environmental requirements and recognised industry standards. We maintain records of risk assessments, training, maintenance and incident reports to demonstrate diligence and continuous compliance without over-specifying local legal references.
Policy acceptance and signature
This policy is endorsed by senior management and applies to all personnel and contractors engaged in pressure cleaning and rubbish company service area duties. By working for or with our organisation, individuals agree to adhere to its contents. The policy will be reviewed periodically and updated to reflect changes in operations, technology or regulatory expectations.
